Ukraine: Russia coal smuggling from occupied regions on the rise

In September Russia exported to Europe 208 thousand tons of coal, illegally taken from the occupied districts of Donetsk and Lugansk regions.

This is up by 18% MoM, or by 33 thousand tons.

According to a source among Russian coal traders, in August-September coal exports were hindered by the Russian Railroads limitations. (Ukrainian metal)

Ukraine: Lugansk coal mining down in January-September 2017

In January-September Pervomayskugol decreased coal output by 48.1%, Lisichanskugol – by 14.2%.

According to the Ministry of energy and coal industry, Pervomayskugol mines extracted 129.9 thousand tons of coal, while Lisichanskugol – 148.3 thousand tons.

All in all coal output in Ukraine in 9 months decreased by 11.5% YoY. (Ukrainian metal)
