Ukraine: DMZ close to complete halt

Donetsk Iron and Steel Works can soon stop its operation completely. Because of the railway strike the works can’t get pellets and supply pig iron.

“We have pellets stocks for a couple of days”, said a source at the works and added that one of the blast furnaces had been stopped. (Ukrainian metal)

Ukraine: Cyprus to buy NPTZ

Wolbert Company, Plamsted and Kamset Holdings (all from Cyprus) intend to buy 19.3% of Nikopol South Pipe Works shares each.

Ukraine: manganese output up in April 2016

In April Ukraine produced 84.7 thousand tons of manganese concentrate and sinter, up by 58% MoM, or by 31.1 thousand tons.

According to Association of Ukrainian Ferroalloy Producers, in January-April output fell by 59.1% YoY, or by 199.5 thousand tons, to 138.3 thousand tons. (Ukrainian metal)

Ukraine: AMKR starts producing square rebars

ArcelorMittal Kriviy Rih started producing a new type of metal products according to NAN – die-rolled section No. 10 rebar with square core. In the near future the company plans to start producing such rebars of No. 8 and 12 sections.

Ukraine: EMSS to make billets for JKZ Bucovice

Energomashspetsstal has concluded an agreement to produce and supply 15 billets to JKZ Bucovice.

According to the company statement, EMSS will produce forged plates and rods and supply them in Q3. The total weight of the lot after mechanical treatment will be 172.53 tons. The billets will be used to produce die tooling. (Ukrainian metal)

Ukraine: coal industry in need of state support

Ukraine’s coal industry needs state support in order to prepare for the heating season of 2016-2017.
