Ukraine: electric energy consumption in metal industry up in January-May 2018

In January-May Ukrainian metal companies increased electricity consumption by 10% YoY, to 4.93 billion kW-h.

In May natural gas consumption remained on the April level – 140 million cubic meters.

Russia: coal railroad transportation down in May 2018

In May the Northern Railroads transported 5.114 million tons of cargo, up by 3.1% YoY.

In particular, ferrous metals transportation increased by 2.6%, to 3.9 million tons.

Scrap transportation dropped by 4%, to 0.3 million tons, while that of coal decreased by 26%, to 1.3 million tons. (Ukrainian metal)

Russia: coal, ferrous metals and iron ore railroad transportation up in May 2018

In May West-Siberian Railroad transported 27 million tons of cargo, up by 4.2% YoY and by 14.5% from May 2016.

Coal transportation increased by 3.7% YoY, to 20.8 million tons.

Lithuania: Dutch company to build metal processing plant in Klaipeda

Dutch metal processing company Focus Fabrication Group plans to build a 3,800 square meter metal processing plant in the port of Klaipeda by the middle of 2019.

The plant would produce various pipe constructions by processing 10,400 kilograms of metal a day.
