Russia: Mechel grinded slag output up in Q1 2017

In January-March Mechel-Materials almost doubled the grinded slag production, to 40 thousand tons.

The grinded slag improves concrete characteristics.

Mechel-Materials started manufacturing this product in 2014. In the production the blast slag from Chelyabinsk Iron and Steel Works is used. (Ukrainian metal)

Kazakhstan: gold output up in Q1 2017

In January-March Kazakhstan produced 19863 kg of raw gold, up by 27.6% YoY.

Russia: Evraz gets additional railroad discount

Russian Railroads will provide a 6.6% discount to the tariff for export transportation from the Zapadno-Sibirskaya and Sverdlovskaya railroads.

The discount is valid through December 31, and is applied to the transportation of coal, iron ore and metal to and from stations, near which 2 Evraz works are situated: ZSMK and NTMK. (Ukrainian metal)

Russia: ore gold found in Altai region

Gorno-Altaiskaya Expeditsiya has found traces of gold ore at the Belyashi site in Altai region.

In addition to main mineral resources (tantalum, lithium, niobium, and tungsten), the site could also yield gold, copper and lead.

In March Ukraine consumed 2.86 million tons of coal, down by 37.7% YoY and by 26.1% MoM.
