Russia: Korshunovsky GOK puts new separators into operation

The processing factory of the Korshunovsky Mining and Processing Works, a part of Mechel, saw the replacement of 4 magnetic separators.

“The output of the new equipment is 100-160 tons per hour. Last year we replaced 6 separators and plan to replace 4 more this year”, the factory director Dmitry Oler said. (Ukrainian metal)

Ukraine: self-proclaimed DPR begins supplying coal to Russia

The self-proclaimed Donetsk People’s Republic (DPR) has sent the first, ‘trial’, consignment of its coal to Russia.

“Today first 95 wagons of coal departed. This is a trial consignment,” DPR leader Alexander Zakharchenko said.

Russia: ferrous metals transshipment in ports up in January-February 2017

In January-February Russian ports transshipped 114.8 million tons of cargo, up by 8.2% YoY.

According to the Association of the Sea Trade Ports, the positive dynamics was the result of the increase in coal throughput (by 15.2% YoY, to 20.9 million tons) and ferrous metals (by 2.5%, to 4.5 million tons). (Ukrainian metal)

Russia: scrap deliveries to Amurmetal down in February 2017

In February Amurmetal, the only ferrous metallurgy enterprise on the Russian Far East, received 4.6 thousand tons of scrap via railroad, up 4 times MoM, but down almost 8-fold YoY.

According to the railroad statistics, in January-February railroad deliveries of scrap totaled 5.85 thousand tons, an absolute minimum in the last several years. (Ukrainian metal)

Russia: Kolyma gold output up in January-February 2017

In January-February the gold-mining companies of the Magadan region yielded 2133 kg of gold, up by 693 kg YoY.

Chelyabinsk Iron and Steel Works, a part of Mechel, has carried out the scheduled repair of its 2300 hot-rolling mill.

The overhaul has been conducted by the works’ employees.
