In the first five months of the current year Ukraine’s scrap exports increased by 40.6% YoY to 256,400 tons. In May alone Ukraine’s scrap exports rose by 20.5% compared to April to 72,400 tons.

Ukrainian pig iron exports up by 16% in first five months of 2012

In January to May 2012 Ukrainian exports of pig iron increased by 16.4% YoY to 732,800 tons.

Ilyich Iron and Steel Works to stop galvanizing capacities

Mariupol Ilyich Iron and Steel Works, one of Ukraine’s largest steel producers, schedules the shutoff of hot galvanizing machine #1 at the beginning of July. The decision is based on low demand from both domestic and international customers.

ArcelorMittal Kriviy Rih steel output rose by 8% in May 2012

ArcelorMittal Kriviy Rih’s steel output rose by 8.35% YoY in May from the same month a year earlier. The company did not give a reason for the increase.
