The Ministry of economical development and trade has approved of the 2016 ferrous scrap balance with legislation violations, Metallurgprom and Federation of Ukrainian Metallurgists believe.
Ukraine’s government doesn’t think about national economical interests, and the country could turn into a scrap exporter, by disassembling its own works, said Zaporizhstal CEO Rostislav Shurma.
In January-February Mariupol Ilyich Iron and Steel Works lacked ferrous scrap and had to substitute it with more expensive pig iron, thus decreasing its metal competitiveness.
As of February 29, anthracite coal stocks at thermal power stations decreased from 885.8 thousand tons a week before to 862.3 thousand tons.
