Russian oil and gas pipe producer TMK has implemented a 6 million euro upgrade of the TMK-ARTROM plant in Romania, the company said in a statement on March 23.
“The upgrade that we have done completely falls in line with our strategy aimed at increase of the share of premium products and flexibility of industrial gauge pipes production. Investment in equipment and introduction of cutting edge technologies allows TMK-ARTROM to strengthen its positions in the niche of premium pipe producers,” the company said quoting CEO of TMK-ARTROM and of TMK’s European division Adrian Popescu.
TMK reconstructed a circular furnace of the rolling mill and improved the automatic control system. This should eliminate holdups in heating of billets and raise efficiency of the furnace through cutting gas consumption by 20%. The company also installed modern pipe cutting machines, and improved the ending part of the piercing mill to raise the length of a significant amount of pipe types, the company said.
