Ukraine: miner perishes at Mirnogradugol

A 30-years old miner perished at the depth of 622 meters in the Centralnaya mine of the state enterprise Mirnogradugol.

“He went into the mine, where a rock cave-in later occurred. The miner fell from the anchoring and into the shaft”, the Donetsk region prosecutor’s office reports.

Kazakhstan: gold output up in January-April 2018

The gross output of raw and semi-processed gold in the powder form reached 28,848 kg in January-April, up by 8.4% YoY.

The overall output of raw and semi-processed silver in the powder form amounted to 334,194 kg, down by 6.5% YoY, the Statistics Committee of the Kazakh National Economy Ministry reports. (Kazinform/Ukrainian metal)

Russia: SUMZ to invest 200 million rubles in Vanyukov furnace repair

Sredneuralsky Copper-Smelting Works has started the scheduled repair of the Vanyukov furnace No. 1.

The company intends to invest some 238 million rubles in the repair.

The furnace commissioning is scheduled for June 8.

Russia: Rusal revenue up in Q1 2018

In January-March Rusal revenue totaled $2.744 million, up by 19.5% YoY. The revenue grew following the increase of aluminum prices at the LME by 16.7%, to $2.159 thousand per ton from $1.85 thousand per ton.
