According to the State Statistics Committee of Ukraine, in January 2012 Ukraine’s ferrous metal exports decreased by 2% YoY to 2.360 million tons.

Dneprovsky Iron and Steel Works to upgrade rolled steel unit

Ukrainian steelmaker Dneprovsky Iron and Steel Works, a part of the Industrial Union of Donbass, plans to start upgrading its rolled metal unit.

Ukrainian coke and steel producers battling proposal to restrict coal imports

Ukraine’s coke and steel producers are battling a recent proposal from the energy and coal industry ministry to restrict imports of coal.

ArcelorMittal’s Ukrainian unit said steel production rose by 22.7% in January from the same month a year earlier.

Ukraine boosts steel output by 6% in 2011

Ukraine boosted its production of crude steel by 5.7% to 35.3 million tons in 2011. Ukraine is the world’s eighth largest steel producer. The world crude steel production reached 1.527 billion tones in 2011 increasing by 6.8% YoY.
Ukraine produced 33.5 million tons of steel in 2010, a 12.4% increase from 2009. (Unian.net)
