In 2017 the state company Ukrzaliznytsia supplied 48.5 thousand tons of metal scrap to Interpipe.
“Ukrzaliznytsia’s entering the scrap market was a very important and long-awaited move. They sold 157.2 thousand tons of ferrous metals scrap, and we bought 48.5 thousand tons from them”, Interpipe CFO Denis Morozov said.
According to him, those companies that won the tenders were able to partially compensate for the shortage of the raw materials and increase output.
Morozov hopes that this year the state enterprise will continue selling its scrap to metal companies.
“We estimate scrap reserves at Ukrzaliznytsia at 250-300 thousand tons”, he added.
The first Ukrzaliznytsia scrap tender was held in June 2017. It sold 84.5 thousand tons. In November 2017 the enterprise auctioned 72.7 thousand tons of scrap. (Ukrainian metal)
