In 2016 the sheet-rolling shop of Cherepovets Iron and Steel Works, a part of Severstal Russian Steel, started producing over 8 new types of steel at its 5000 mill.

In particular, the new types include high-strength F500W steel with the thickness of up to 70 mm, which has passed the certification of the Russian Maritime Register of Shipping. Such metal is especially needed when constructing drilling platforms and icebreakers.

Another new metal is SeverHard steel. This is a special metal intended to be used in production of equipment and parts operating under heavy wear. (Ukrainian metal)
