Representatives of Moldova Iron and Steel Works held talks with Ukrainian companies on the resumption of scrap deliveries.

“In April and May there were no deliveries. But I know for sure, that their representatives have come to Ukraine for negotiations. There are risks, especially in winter, when scrap procurement in Ukraine falls”, Interpipe CFO Denis Morozov said.

Since summer of 2018 Ukraine has imposed sanctions on MMZ. In late March the Council of the National Security and Defense excluded the works from the sanctions list.

But the export duty on scrap is still valid. This has led to the increase in the scrap price and the start of imports from other countries, including Romania and Moldova. (Ukrainian metal)
