Severstal has put in operation a new bulk crane at the steel manufacture of Cherepovets Iron and Steel Works.

The lifting capacity of the new machine is 70 tons, its length – over 34 meters and weight exceeds 248 tons.

The crane will be used to transport and load slabs into open wagons.

“Investments in the project exceeded 160 million rubles. The commissioning of the crane will allow improving the efficiency of manufacture, as the lifting capacity of the new machine is 1.5 times higher as that of the previous one”, Severstal Russian Steel division CEO Vadim Germanov said.

The program to replace outdated cranes at CherMK started in 2016. (Ukrainian metal)
