The license for the development of Bozymchak, the country’s largest copper-gold deposit, was renewed, the press secretary of KAZ Minerals Bozymchak LLC Elena Tregubova informed.

Earlier, the company received a notice on suspending the license for three months with reference to Article 27 of the Law of the Kyrgyz Republic On Subsoil.

Ulanbek Ryskulov, Chairman of the State Committee for Industry, Energy and Mineral Resources, informed about the reasons for the suspension of the license. He said the State Inspectorate for Environmental and Technical Safety received a letter that the inspection revealed ecology and industrial safety violations by KAZ Minerals Bozymchak. According to the chairman of the State Committee, suspension of the license is a standard procedure for eliminating the violations detected.

“Previously revealed violations were eliminated by KAZ Minerals Bozymchak, and the State Inspection submitted an act on this, the fine was paid, and the commission renewed the license,” Ulanbek Ryskulov added.

KAZ Minerals Bozymchak is a member of KAZ Minerals PLC group. The company Kazakhmys Gold Kyrgyzstan started its work in Kyrgyzstan in 2007. On October 31, 2015, Kazakhmys Gold Kyrgyzstan was renamed KAZ Minerals Bozymchak, the company holds licenses for exploration and development of Bozymchak copper-gold deposit in Ala-Buka district of Jalal-Abad region and other licenses required for field operation.

On August 1, 2015, Bozymchak mining and processing enterprise was launched with the participation of the Prime Minister of Kyrgyzstan. According to the government, the company’s annual payments are estimated at 310 million soms. The explored reserves of copper amount to 140,078 tons, gold – 22.96 tons, silver – 144.2 tons. At the beginning of 2017, more than $430 million was invested in the project.

The number of employees of the company is about 1,000 people; over 90% are the Kyrgyz citizens. (24.kg/Ukrainian metal)
