Interpipe Steel has asked the Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal to prohibit the export of scrap until December 31, 2023.
“Scrap is the main raw material for our operation. We depend on its availability”, the company said on its page in Facebook.
According to it, the scrap procurement in Ukraine is rather complex. In 2020, procurement reached its historic low.
“Scrap volumes are barely enough to cover the needs of the domestic metal companies. But in 2021, scrap exports have grown dramatically. In January-May, exports grew 8.9-fold, to 146.3 thousand tons”, Interpipe Steel said.
The company believes this is a very negative situation. (Ukrainian metal)
