The Kumtor deposit still possesses over 104 tons of gold.
Since 1997 some 384.3 tons of gold have been extracted at the deposit.
“Now the total volume of gold reserves is 104.345 tons”, declared the chairman of the State Committee on Industry, Energy and Subsoil Use Emil Osmonbetov.
According to Kyrgyzaltyn chairman Almaz Alimbekov, the company overall revenue was $9.5 billion, with $3.7 billion remaining in Kyrgyzstan.
“Now Centerra Gold is looking for other sources to decrease its dependence on Kumtor. At the same time the cost of our share in Kumtor has increased to $650 million”, he added.
The mine is to be developed until 2026. (Ukrainian metal)
