In April Ukraine produced 2063 thousand tons of pig iron (68.8 thousand tons on average per day, up by 4% MoM), 2201 thousand tons of steel (73.4 thousand tons, up by 5% MoM) and 1967 thousand tons of rolled metal (65.6 thousand tons, up by 8% MoM).
In January-April output was as follows: pig iron – 7916 thousand tons (up by 23% YoY), 8280 thousand tons of steel (up by 17% YoY) and 7311 thousand tons of rolled metal (up by 19% YoY).
As of May 1, 26 out of 28 blast furnaces (93%), 17 out of 21 converters (81%), 7 out of 9 open-hearth furnaces (78%) and 6 out of 16 electric-arc furnaces (38%) were in operation.
Average daily output in May is: 71.5 thousand tons of pig iron, 73.5 thousand tons of steel and 63 thousand tons of rolled metal.
In April Ukrainian iron and steel works received 2.45 million tons of iron ore (up by 2% MoM), with 9 million tons delivered in January-April (up by 20% YoY). Russian supplies increased by 30 thousand tons MoM, to 200 thousand tons. In 4 months imports totaled 940 thousand tons as opposed to 290 thousand tons last year. April exports reached 3.4 million tons, with 13.6 million tons in 4 months, down by 9% YoY.
Ukrainian coke companies received 470 thousand tons of coal, down by 40 thousand tons MoM, or 2 million tons in January-April (up by 25% YoY). Imports totaled 1040 thousand tons in April (down by 120 thousand tons MoM) and 4.3 million tons in 4 months (up by 38% YoY).
Metal companies received 950 thousand tons of coke in April and 3.7 million tons in January-April (up by 38% YoY). Imports were on the March level (80 thousand tons), while in 4 months Ukraine imported 290 thousand tons of coke, down by 52% YoY.
Metal companies also received 265 thousand tons of scrap (on March level), down by 11% of the need. In January-April they received 870 thousand tons of scrap (down by 20% of the need and by 16% YoY).
Scrap exports in April totaled 82 thousand tons, while in Q1 they reached 12 thousand tons. Imports in January-April were on the level of 5 thousand tons.
Gas consumption in April reached 137 million cubic meters (4.6 million per day) and 600 million cubic meters in 4 months, down by 21% YoY. (Ukrainian metal)
