A copper ore enrichment plant has been built and commissioned in the city of Almalyk, located 52 kilometers from the Uzbek capital, the Uzbek Presidential Administration reports.
The plant will supply raw materials to the Almalyk Mining and Metallurgical Plant.
The plant was built on a 196-hectare site as part of the Yoshlik-1 deposit development program.
The project cost is $2.7 billion.
The plant’s capacity allows it to process up to 60 million tons of ore and produce approximately 900,000 tons of copper concentrate per year.
The Almalyk Mining and Metallurgical Plant is one of the largest industrial enterprises in Uzbekistan, specializing in the mining and processing of copper-molybdenum, lead-zinc, and gold-silver ores.
According to government analysts, copper production in Uzbekistan will reach 250,000 tons per year in the coming years, and will grow to 500,000 tons per year until 2030. (Logistan)
