Russia: Medvedev orders government to auction copper and cobalt ore site

Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev has signed a ruling to hold a 413.07-million ruble auction.

The right to develop the Zapadny Kara-Kulsky bismuthiferous copper and cobalt ore site in the Altai region will be sold, according to the ruling published on the government’s website on October 2. (Prime/Ukrainian metal)

Kazakhstan: major mineral exploration project implemented

A major mineral exploration project is being implemented in Kazakhstan’s Karaganda region in cooperation with foreign investors. An Australian-UK concern, the name of which was not disclosed, allocated 9 billion tenges to search for minerals. The total exploration area is 17,000 square meters. Ukraine: copper exports up in January-July 2018

In January-July Ukraine imported $51.894 million worth of copper and copper wares, up by 9.4% YoY.

According to the State Fiscal Service, exports grew by 38.5%, to $100.8345 million.

Russia: copper exports growing

In January-April Russia exported 281.9 thousand tons of copper valued at $1922 million, up by 16.9% and by 43.1% YoY respectively.

Primary copper accounts for 80% of deliveries.

In April the average price was $6766 per ton, up by 24% YoY.

Russia: copper exports up in Q1 2018

In January-March Russia exported 218.7 thousand tons of primary copper valued at $1496 million, up by 15.2% and by 40.6% YoY respectively.

In March the average price of primary copper was $6739 per ton FOB Russian border, up by 19% YoY.

Kazakhstan: BAST to increase Maksut capacities

BAST intends to increase copper-nickel ore processing capacities at the Maksut deposits 3.5-fold, to 1.4 million tons per year. Additional capacities of 1 million tons will be constructed in 2019. In January-February Russia exported 152.6 thousand tons of primary copper valued at $1051 million, up by 23.1% and by 51.6% YoY respectively.

In February the average price was $6932 per ton of primary copper, up by 22.81% YoY.
