Free interpretation of customs tariffs on behalf of some customs units hinders exports of Ukrainian scrap metal to the countries of the European Union.
“According to the Association agreement with the EU, the customs duty is EUR 3 per ton, but a special EUR.1 certificate is required, which confirms Ukrainian origin. Issue of certificate is another EUR 3 for the budget, while non-issue is EUR 180 to the budget on each ton of scrap exported. And, unfortunately this is a serious field for oral interpretation and abuse on behalf of customs services,” UAVtormet Association president Volodymyr Bublei has said. (Ukrainian metal)
