In 2022, ferrous rolled metal in Ukraine increased in price by 21-28% YoY.

According to Sergey Kovalenko, director of the National network of metal centers Vartis, the increase was due to the Russian invasion and inflation rate growth. The war has also affected demand and manufacturing capacities.

In the second half of February 2023 or in early March 2023, rolled metal prices are expected to rise, mostly due to seasonal factors.

The rise in price could also be caused by shortage of some items due to them no longer being produced in Ukraine. This happened when Russia destroyed Mariupol Ilyich Iron and Steel Works and Azovstal, which produced flanged beams, rails and plates. And their prices in Ukraine almost doubled. (Ukrainian metal)
