Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has promised to develop and discuss with the public the plans to reform and modernize coalmines. He stated this at a meeting with employees of the Mezhyrichanska coal mine of the Lvivvuhillia state enterprise in Chervonohrad on February 6.

“First there will be plans, then we will discuss them with the public, and after that we will talk to the miners. We will discuss what mine should be modernized, what mine, unfortunately, is no longer being modernized, and then it will be necessary to find jobs for people,” Zelensky said.

He recalled that wage arrears to employees of the Mezhyrichanska mine were UAH 22 million and promised the funds would be paid to the miners until the end of February.

At the same time, Zelensky stressed that the debt at the Lvivvuhillia state enterprise totaled UAH 175 million.

“We respect your profession. We know that it has been underestimated in the country for many years, we understand everything. We understand there are difficulties, there are arrears. We will clear the debt,” Zelensky said. (Ukrinform/Ukrainian metal)
