“We propose to create a working group by a government’s decision that will hold negotiations on Jerooy,” Duishonbek Kamchybekov, Deputy Chairman of the Association of Miners, said at a press conference.

According to him, Jerooy is the second deposit after Kumtor in terms of proved gold reserves. In addition to what the company has paid to the budget and agreed with the previous license holders Visor, they have paid 503 million soms to the budget, and 300 million – to the Development Fund of Talas region.

“Recently, political structures, including the people’s kurultai and youth organizations, have been asking: why is there no share of Kyrgyzstan in Jerooy? We studied the situation and saw two options for resolving the issue. To mitigate the situation, we propose to create a working group to address the Cabinet and start negotiations. We need to study what kind of profit Kyrgyzstan will get if there is a country’s share in the project,” said Duishonbek Kamchybekov.

“The second option is to introduce for them a requirement to deduct a certain percent of gross income to the republic’s budget,” he concluded. (24.kg/Ukrainian metal)
