In September scrap exporters were unable to sell scrap, as they could not get the exporting licenses on time.
The new order to export scrap came into effect on September 1. And the export to the countries other than the EAEU had to be quoted, with the total amount reaching 1 million tons until the end of the year.
The quota is distributed among exporters according to the export volumes in 2016-2018. The one-time license is granted by the Ministry of Industry and Trade.
Verona LLC reported that the ministry notified of the new rules only on September 11, while the document was presented on September 13. After that the exporters were able to apply for the license.
“But until September 16 there was no technical possibility to add a license on scrap procurement to the packet of documents, which was a basis to deny granting the license”, the company said.
It takes 15 days to review the documents to grant license. (Ukrainian metal)
