Cherepovets Iron and Steel Works has finished the assembly of the automated system of the coke-oven batteries Nos. 5 and 6 heating model.

The total cost of the modernization was some 80 million rubles.

Severstal Russian Steel investment department and CherMK coke shop No. 1 employees together with the subcontractors have equipped a control room with modern Siemens controllers, which manage all the main machines of the coke-oven batteries.

The system allows more precise control and heating of the batteries, thus improving coke quality.

The batteries were also equipped with special oxygen analyzers, which would allow decreasing coke gas usage while retaining heating quality. (Ukrainian metal)
