Mariupol Ilyich Iron and Steel Works has received two electric engines.
They will operate in the sheet-rolling shop 1700. The reconstruction of the mill will allow the company to expand sales markets because of the improvement of quality and the increase in weight.
Investments in the shop modernization total 2.4 billion UAH.
The engines were supplied by Primetals Technologies Austria.
The capacity of each engine is 5 MW and they weigh 150 tons.
At present the weight of each coil produced is 8 to 13 tons. With the commissioning of two engines the weight will grow to 27 to 32 tons. (Ukrainian metal)
