For 8 months, Ukrzaliznytsia and the government have been unable to decide on the scrap sales procedure. This affects both the operation of Ukrzaliznytsia and the country’s economy.
“Amendments were made to an order of the Cabinet that regulated the process of Ukrzaliznytsia assets sales. And it became questionable who had to take decisions on sales – the government of the company. It is very sad, that when the metal companies need this scrap to survive, the economy needs money and Ukrzaliznytsia needs money, it takes 8 months to solve the problem,” Ukrmetalurgprom president Olexander Kalenkov has said.
He claimed that the company was able to sell scrap all this time. But for this, procedure issues had to be solved, which was not done.
The market feels the shortage of raw materials, and their prices are growing, so the companies produce less than they can. All the players are interested in these procedure issues to be solved as soon as possible. (Ukrainian metal)
