Steel production continues recovering in Ukraine, but the pre-war level is unlikely to be reached in the foreseeable future.
In March, steel output grew by 16% YoY and in Q1 – by 37%.
Pig iron manufacture increased by 16% and by 32% respectively.
Ukrainian steel plants work with decreased capacities ranging from 30% to 90% depending on the region. At the same time, some plants had to shut down due to damages caused by the Russian invasion.
Domestic steel consumption is actively growing, nearing the pre-war level. At present it is on the level of 80%.
The share of imports has reached 25-30% from less than 20% before the war. (Ukrainian metal)
