Ukraine’s extraction of coal rose by 1.1% YoY, to 2.64 million tons in July from 2.61 million tons in July 2017 and from 2.55 million tons in June, the Energy and Coal Industry Ministry reported.

Extraction of thermal coal in July increased by 7.7%, to 2.22 million tons from 2.06 million tons in July 2017, but coking coal output dropped by 24.4%, to 420,100 tons from 555,800 tons, S&P Global Platts reported.

In January-July Ukraine produced 19.14 million tons of coal, down by 9.1% YoY, or by 1.91 million tons, from 21.05 million tons a year ago, the ministry said.

Thermal coal output decreased by 8.7%, to 15.52 million tons in January-July from 17 million tons, while coking coal output dropped by 10.4%, to 3.62 million tons from 4.04 million tons.
