Ukraine’s output of manganese ferroalloy fell by 11.9% YoY and by 7.5% MoM, to 74,950 tons in July, Ukrainian ferroalloy producers association UkrFA said.
In July Ukraine produced 65,400 tons of silicomanganese, down from 66,700 tons in July 2017. Output of ferromanganese dropped to 3,700 tons from 11,000 tons and production of ferrosilicon fell to 5,200 tons from 6,800 tons, according to S&P Global Platts.
Ukraine also produced 600 tons of metallic manganese, unchanged on the year.
In January-July production of ferroalloy increased by 3.2% YoY, to 607,100 tons, the association said.
Ukraine produced 513,400 tons of silicomanganese, up from 459,200 tons a year ago. Production of ferromanganese dropped to 43,000 tons from 69,800 tons, output of ferrosilicon decreased to 46,300 tons from 54,200 tons and output of metallic manganese fell to 4,500 tons from 4,900 tons in January-July 2017.
Ukraine’s biggest ferroalloy smelter, Nikopol Ferroalloy Plant, produced 463,600 tons of manganese ferroalloys in January-July, up by 7.3% YoY.
The company’s output of silicomanganese increased by 14.6%, to 442,700 tons, but production of ferromanganese dropped by 54.7%, to 20,100 tons.
At the Zaporozhye Ferro Alloys Plant (ZZF), the only other producer of manganese ferroalloy, output fell by 7.9% YoY, to 143,500 tons in January-July.
ZZF produced 70,600 tons of silicomanganese, down from 73,100 tons a year earlier. Output of ferrosilicon decreased to 46,300 tons from 54,200 tons, and production of ferromanganese fell to 22,100 tons from 23,800 tons.
ZZF also produced 4,500 tons of metallic manganese in January-July, down from 4,900 tons a year earlier.
In 2017 Ukraine’s ferroalloy output fell by 0.2% YoY, to 1.026 million tons. (UNIAN/Ukrainian metal)
