Evraz NTMK is getting ready to put its blast furnace No. 7 in operation.
All the construction work has been performed and the machinery and equipment and being assembled. The furnace is scheduled to be blown in late February.
At present the company is operating two blast furnaces (Nos. 5 and 6) with the volume of 2200 cubic meters each. The annual pig iron output is around 5 million tons.
The projected capacity of the new blast furnace is 2.5 million tons of pig iron per year; it will replace the blast furnace No. 6, which will be shut down for repair. The volume of BF 7 is 2200 cubic meters.
Investments in the project total some $170 million. (Ukrainian metal)
