The United Mining and Chemical Company, owner of Volnogorsk Mining and Processing Works and Irshansk Mining and Processing Works, in 2017 increased ilmenite output by 18.7% YoY, to 392.2 thousand tons.
In particular, IrGOK produced 224.4 thousand tons of ilmenite concentrate, the best result for the past three years.
At the same time, Volnogorsk GOK decreased output: ilmenite concentrate – by 2.2% YoY, to 167.8 thousand tons, rutile concentrate – by 2.9%, to 53.6 thousand tons and zirconium concentrate – by 9.5%, to 26.5 thousand tons.
The drop in output is explained by the thinning of ores. (Ukrainian metal)
