On March 10, Zaporizhstal started delivering metal to its customers by way of rivers after a three-months winter break.

This year the company plans to supply around 600 thousand tons of metal by river to Bulgaria, Turkey, Serbia, Greece and Romania.

“Water transportation has undeniable logistics advantages compared with other means of transportation. We systematically use it, as it improves our competitiveness. Ukraine has to develop port infrastructure, invest into modernization of river fleet. If the state does not start developing it, we could loose it for good”, the company CEO Rostislav Shurma said.

Zaporizhstal resumed cooperation with the Zaporozhye river port in October 2012. In 5 years the company has supplied some 2.5 million tons of metal through the port. (Ukrainian metal)
