In December Ukrainian metal companies plan to produce 2.1 million tons of steel, 2 million tons of pig iron and 1.8 million tons of rolled metal.
According to Ukrmetallurgprom, the forecast for November was 1.9 million tons of steel and pig iron each, as well as 1.7 million tons of rolled metal.
In October Ukraine produced 1.9 million tons of pig iron (average daily output at 62.5 thousand tons, up by 2% MoM), 2 million tons of steel (64.7 thousand tons, up by 5%) and 1.7 million tons of rolled metal (55 thousand tons, down by 5%).
As of November 15, 24 out of 27 blast furnaces (89%), 18 out of 21 converters (86%), 7 out of 9 open-hearth furnaces (78%) and 6 out 16 of electric-arc furnaces (38%) were in operation.
In January-October Ukraine produced 19.7 million tons of pig iron, 20.2 million tons of steel and 17.8 million tons of rolled metal, all up by 9%, 6% and 6% YoY respectively.
In October Ukraine received 2.5 million tons of iron ore raw materials from its own companies, up by 350 thousand tons MoM, with 23.7 million tons in January-October, up by 9% YoY. Imports totaled 40 thousand tons, up by 20 thousand tons MoM, and 1.3 million tons in January-October, up by 3% YoY. Ukraine also exported 3.1 million tons of iron ore raw materials in October, with 31.8 million tons in January-October, down by 16% YoY.
Ukrainian coal deliveries to by-product coke plants in October increased by 10 thousand tons MoM, to 470 thousand tons, with 5 million tons supplied in January-October (on the corresponding 2015 level). Coal imports dropped by 140 thousand tons MoM, to 920 thousand tons, but went up by 20% YoY, to 9.8 million tons, in January-October.
All in all Ukrainian by-product coke plants received 1.4 million tons of coal in October, down by 130 thousand tons MoM, and 14.8 million tons in January-October, up by 12% YoY. Imported coal share increased to 66% from 62% in January-October 2015. Coal stocks dropped by 50 thousand tons and totaled 400 thousand tons as of November 1.
In October metal companies received 870 thousand tons of Ukrainian coke (on the September level), with 9 million tons supplied in January-October, up by 14% YoY. Ukraine also imported 125 thousand tons of coke, up by 5 thousand tons MoM, or 985 thousand tons in January-October, down by 13% YoY. Including imports, in 10 months metal companies received 10 million tons of coke, up by 10% YoY.
Metal companies consumed 150 million cubic meters of gas in October, up by 20 million cubic meters. Average daily gas consumption totaled 4.8 million cubic meters. In January-October metal companies consumed 1.4 billion cubic meters of gas, down by 18% YoY, with average daily consumption at 4.6 million cubic meters as opposed to 5.6 million in January-October 2015. Electricity consumption went up by 4% YoY, to 10.6 billion kW-hours.
In October metal companies received 320 thousand tons of scrap, up by 35 thousand tons MoM, or 89% of the need. In January-October scrap deliveries amounted to 2.6 million tons, down by 1% YoY, or 84% of the need.
Scrap stocks in October increased by 20 thousand tons, to 160 thousand tons.
After a 3-months break Ukraine exported 7 thousand tons of scrap. In January-October Ukraine exported 240 thousand tons of scrap against 1.1 million tons in January-October 2015. (Ukrainian metal)
