In January-May, Ukraine produced 2568 thousand tons of rolled metal, up by 29.6% YoY. Of them, according to the State Customs Service, 1680 thousand tons, or 65,4%, were exported.
In January-May 2023, the share of exports was 48.7% – 966 thousand tons of 1982 thousand tons produced.
The share of semi-finished products in exports amounted to 46.79%, down from 48.96% last year, while of flat rolled metal grew from 30.75% to 40.3%, and of bars dropped from 20.29% to 12.92%.
The volume of the domestic market was 1360.9 thousand tons, of which 472.9 thousand tons, or 34.75% were imported. In January-May 2023, the volume was 1411.4 thousand tons with 395.4 thousand tons, or 28.01% imported. Thus, this year, the volume of the domestic market decreased by 3.58%, but the share of imports grew by 6.74%.
The share of flat rolled metal products in imports was 82.07% and bars – 16.13%, as opposed to 80.45% and 18.46% last year.
The main export markets were the EU countries (78.8%), followed by other European countries (6.3%) and other North American countries (5.7%).
