Azovstal Iron and Steel Works has started the pulverized coal injection process at its blast furnace No. 2.
“PCI at BF No. 4 was started according to schedule in November 2016. Construction works at BF No. 2 began in December 2016, and now the PCI process has started”, the company said.
The next furnace to be equipped with PCI unit will be blast furnace No. 3.
“In July it was decided to repair this blast furnace to increase pig iron output by 0.5-0.8 million tons per year and decrease manufacturing expenses”, the company reports.
BF No. 3 is expected to be put into operation in Q3 2018. (Ukrainian metal)
