The nationalized Mykolaiv Alumina Plant, belonging to the Russian oligarch Oleg Deripaska before the invasion, is yet unable to fully resume operation.
“The plant is managed by the State Property Fund. We maintain its operating condition. Now its operation is suspended due to the blocking of Mykolaiv seaports and the danger of shelling. All this makes its functioning now impossible,” the fund head Vitaliy Koval has said.
Mykolaiv Plant is the only manufacturer of alumina in Ukraine. Resumption of its operation is necessary to relaunch aluminum manufacture at Zaporozhye Aluminum Plant, which has been put up for sale. (Ukrainian metal)
