The Minustry of Defence is stockpiling scrap at four sites for its further sale. Until the end of the year, the ministry could amass 200 thousand tons of scrap, deputy defence minister Yuri Jigir has said.
“We have more than 15 thousand tons of ferrous scrap. Of them, 541 tons contain precious metals. Because of the Russian invasion, scrap volumes have increased 5-7-fold,” he added.
The ministry can only sell its scrap by attracting authorized state enterprises, the list of which has been approved by the government. At present there are three such enterprises – Ukroboronservis, Ukrspetstorg and Cherkassy Automobile Repair Plant. (Ukrainian metal)
