The State Bureau of Investigation is investigating the involvement of the employees of Volyn region customs in the illegal schemes of scrap exports to the EU, with damages estimated at 350 million UAH.
“Companies, exporting scrap to the EU, can receive a EUR.1 certificate, confirming the Ukrainian origin of scrap. It allows decreasing the export duty from EUR 180 to EUR 3 per ton. Many companies, that could not confirm the origin of their scrap, submitted faux documents, on the basis of which customs officers issued the corresponding certificate for a bribe,” the bureau said.
In 2022-2023, under the scheme the Volyn customs allowed the export of 45 thousand tons of metal scrap, damaging the state for 350 million UAH. (Ukrainian metal)
