The Interdepartmental Commission on International Trade has made a right decision to impose duties on poor-quality Chinese pipes, Interpipe CFO Denis Morozov has said.

“What is important is that the duty applies not to all Chinese, but to “bad” only. The companies that operate not according to the standard and without certificates. They used to supply pipes with forged certificates and compete with our pipes, that had passed all certification procedures and all possible controls”, he added.

Before the duty, Chinese poor-quality pipes accounted for 14% of Ukrainian seamless pipes market. Last year, Ukraine imported 24 thousand tons of seamless pipes, of which 22 thousand tons were of poor quality. (Ukrainian metal)
