Russia has blocked deliveries of power-generating coal to Ukraine via Belarus.
According to the chairman of the Independent Miners’ Union and a member of the Batkivschina party Mikhail Volynets, the situation with stocking power coal for winter has already been unsatisfactory, but now it could become catastrophic.
Some 300-400 thousand tons of Russian coal used to be delivered to Ukraine via Belarus per month.
“Previously shippers used to submit orders to RZD asking to deliver coal to Belarus. Now no order is accepted. This will result in a huge shortage of coal in a dangerous time – in winter”, Volynets said. (Ukrainian metal)
