In July Mechel-Materials processed a record of 43 thousand tons of metal manufacture waste into mineral additive to concrete mixes.

This is some 40% of Chelyabinsk Iron and Steel Works blast furnace wastes in a month.

The additive is obtained by shredding pig iron manufacture waste in special mills.

The use of the additive allows decreasing concrete prime cost, improving its strength, cold- and water-resistance, as well as its surface quality.

In H1 the company produced 120 thousand tons of slag, up by a third YoY.

Mechel-Materials plans to produce up to 100 thousand tons per month. (Ukrainian metal)
