Russia can limit the export of ferrous and non-ferrous metals scrap to countries, which are not parts of the Eurasian Economic Union from January 1, 2020.
The exports will be limited to the volumes purchased at the exchange.
This will make the scrap exports more transparent.
For the past 10 years Russia has been procuring 25-27 million tons of scrap per year.
At the same time electric steel smelting capacities in 2010-2016 grew from 7.5 million tons to 36.7 million tons.
Average scrap price in 2017-2018 increased by 52.5%. (Ukrainian metal)
