Russia produces around 19 million tons of hot-rolled sheet per year, including 14 million tons of thin sheet and 5 million tons of plates.
In 2017-2018 a third of this volume was exported. Hot-rolled metal imports grew from 1 million tons in 2016 to 2 million tons in 2017-2018.
Domestic consumption of hot-rolled metal in 2017-2018 was 14.6 million tons, including 9.3-9.4 million tons of thin sheet and 5.2-5.3 million tons of plates.
The main consumers of hot-rolled metal in Russia are welded pipe manufacturers. In 2018 small and medium-diameter pipes accounted for 37% of all demand, and LDP – 18%. (Ukrainian metal)
