The modernization projects of Azovstal, Zaporizhstal and Mariupol Ilyich Iron and Steel Works have made it to the top-20 best environment programs.
The rating comprised local and foreign companies operating in Ukraine. Both completed and programs in progress were taken into account.
The rating is topped by Azovstal, with its blast furnace No. 3 reconstruction valued at 2.5 billion UAH.
Zaporizhstal is on the fourth position. Since 2012 it has spent some 10.6 billion UAH on environment modernization and reconstruction.
Mariupol Ilyich was placed 12th. The company is reconstructing its sinter factory, which will allow decreasing dust emission by 90% and sulfur oxides by 43% by 2020. Last year investments in modernization, including the sinter factory reconstruction and capital repairs of the blast furnaces Nos. 2, 3, 4 and 5, exceeded 1.4 billion UAH. (Ukrainian metal)
