Output of thermal and coking coal in Ukraine in 2018 increased by 0.9% YoY, from 33 million to 33.29 million tons.

State-owned coalmines during the reporting period extracted 4.14 million tons of coal, according to the Ministry of Energy and Coal Industry of Ukraine.

In particular, the output of coking coal, used for the needs of steelmakers, fell by 14.6%, to 5.81 million tons, while that of thermal coal rose by 4.9%, to 27.48 million tons.

In the overall structure of output in 2018, coking coal amounted to 17.4%, while thermal coal totaled 82.5%. (UNIAN/Ukrainian metal)
