Government of Kyrgyzstan is interested in the operation of Kumtor, the President Sooronbai Jeenbekov told at a press conference.
He noted that Kumtor took an important place in the country’s economy.
“We, of course, are not afraid to sue, denounce and raise the issue of the nationalization of Kumtor. But this is not a solution. As you know, a contract was drawn up with the company in 2009. It was ratified by the members of the Parliament, and it is not that easy to break it. Today, Kumtor pays taxes in the amount of 9 billion soms. Work of the enterprise is important for our economy,” the head of state said. (24.kg/Ukrainian metal)
