Severstal has concluded contracts for the manufacture of metal structures for the blast furnace jacket and the delivery of refractory materials and the cooling system under the project to construct the blast furnace No. 3 at Cherepovets Iron and Steel Works.

The jacket will be produced by Vitkovice (the Czech Republic).

Refractory materials will be supplied by NDK (Japan).

Severstal has also concluded an agreement for the delivery of a cooling system with Danieli Corus (the Netherlands).

The foundation pit for the blast furnace has already been created. In 14 hours the constructors have poured over 450 cubic meters of refractory concrete able to withstand the temperature of up to 450 degrees C.

The blowing of the blast furnace No. 3 is scheduled for 2020.

Investments total 28 billion rubles.

The design capacity of the blast furnace will be 2.9 million tons of pig iron per year. (Ukrainian metal)
