Karelsky Okatysh has started using a “virtual aide” when producing pellets.

For this a special optimizing model was installed at three pelletizing machines, the main tasks of which are to improve product efficiency and save fuel oil without loss of quality.

“Fuel oil is an expensive fuel and the main part of expenses in the manufacture of pellets. We face a task to decrease fuel oil consumption, and the new system is here to help”, the headman of the pelletizing site Victor Sleptsov said.

The model analyzes data and provides feedback. The information depends on the type of pellets produced: moisture and sulfur in concentrate, bentonite volume, etc. Having processed the data, the system forecasts the cold strength of the pellets after pelletizing. If the parameters are higher than those set, the operator has to take measures to decrease them, thus increasing the productivity and lowering the fuel oil usage. (Ukrainian metal)
